[repost] The Lady Khama Charitable Trust recently visited a school in Kgatleng to support a project that provides free specs for primary school pupils using eye chart tests. We were able to ‘screen’ all pupils in the target ages and are grateful for the community’s assistance and support to make this project a success.

What a great day working with the Gweta Ophthalmic eye care coordinator nurse at 2 schools. Professional, attentive and smart.

I really love sustainable humanitarian work. I LOVE it even more when the government are involved positively.

You’ll agree, right. This school was specifically supported by @naturalselectiontravel and arranged by Tsitsi there cultural liaison who does a wonderful job

Imagine having a stroke when you’re 12 years old. Let that sink in!

The right side of her body taking the brunt of it. She couldn’t hold her right hand up to cover her eye even. Perfect left eye i gave her specs after being tested and the result was clapping teachers and a giddy little girl giving little skips of joy trying not to show too much excitement (my heart sunk ☺️)

It was a 4AM morning start and a long days drive t

It was a 4AM morning start and a long days drive to Bokspits border post.

We had very few delays and managed to get across the border with 10 minutes to spare.

After having some numb bums we stopped around 70 km after the border and found a beautiful wild camp spot.

We asked the local herdsman for permission to rest off the main road and he gladly obliged

I hope you are all ready for Monday. It is going to be amazing chaos for a first day

Screening kids eyes is a big deal. And always grateful for being able to do it. Having aircon available is also a big deal, we can only laugh about it. We get to sue our #leathermantools and #victronenergy products when we can. They don’t however offer aircon (well one can - but I’d need a rather large system for that hahahaha)

Dominic is a gentle soul. He’s thorough, knowledgeable and I’m incredibly grateful I got to work with him on the #Hwange project.

There are problems and then there are problems.

There are problems and then there are problems.

No charging auxiliary batteries while driving long distances is a big problem for any #Overlander.

I have 2 @engelaustralia each 40L which is a lot of food to give away if my batteries can’t charge for some reason.

I was lucky that Andre and Buck where coming into town so I had to hold off a little longer.
